Friendly reminder – listen to EVERYTHING before moving on

I did a short batch of tracking over lunch, the probable opening track, “At The Top of my Lungs” I want to have my Strat handle the first few melody lines before switching to my Suhr Modern and humbuckers for the rest, so I banged that out over lunch. The first proper “lead guitar” part is some harmonics over the opening chords – I did a few takes, got one I like, played it back, and then something caught my ears so I solo’d it:

Normally when recording I have my cell phone on my desk around me somewhere. This was a quick session, so it was still in my pocket. And, somehow, it was creating enough electrical interference that I could hear this pulsing sound being picked up by my guitar, just from it’s being there.

Double check everything. It was a quick matter to re-record this, but if that had otherwise been THE take on a really challenging part, I’d have been frustrated.
